Gordan Freeman win's All-Time Greatest Game Hero - 55.8% off on all Half Life games!

But £17 quid for HL2, Ep1, Ep2, TF2 and Portal is still one of the best game deals ever.

Do you get any HL1 stuff with it? When I bought HL2 when it first came out it came with the back catalogue of HL1 games and addons.

It was always a good deal for those who never played HL2, but the majority of people who had HL2, already had Ep 1 and were forced due to pricing to basically buy the entire package for however much it was, rather than just have the option of buying Ep 2 for the £5, maybe £10 that it was worth.

You have 100k's of people paying £20-25 for the orange box, JUST for Ep 2, and 10k's of people getting a really good deal on the whole set.

I do find this, screw existing users, give new users the best deal thing SOO many companies and industrys go for these days beyond nuts. ISP's, mobile phones, games, anything, new users mostly get the best deals :(

I don't think it is beyond nuts, I think it is just good business sense. It's all about expanding your market share, especially in the contract business (services like ISP, phones, utilities, insurance etc).

Due to inertia, existing customers are more likely to buy your products than the average man on the street. Therefore, you don't need to offer them such good incentives to get their custom.

It's also just the way most retail products work - over time, the price falls. You ship a product for £25, it sells to all the people that are eager to get it. Then over time you drop the price and bring in more customers that weren't prepared to pay full whack.

The irony is that with some of these megapack deals (not talking just HL now) on Steam etc, arguably newcomers to PC gaming have never had it so good - but they probably aren't so aware of these offers or at least don't appreciate the quality of the games. For a couple of hundred quid you can get huge back catalogue featuring some of the best the major publishers have to offer. Say THQ Collectors pack, Rockstar Collection, Valve Complete Pack, id Super Pack etc. Obviously a lot of tat in there too but via a bit of picking and choosing most people should be able to come up with 20 or 30 quality titles.

I really like buying the multi/collector pack of games. Means I have a huge lot of games I could play should I wish to for a heavily discounted price. I got the THQ pack, Valve pack and have been trying to decide whether to get the Rockstar pack for a while. May just buy dragon age though lol

I actually wanted to play opposing force and I hadn't got it, so thanks to this thread I've just purchased the Half Life 1 Anthology :)

With your system spec I would be looking to put it on medium spec with 800x600. I should only think that you would get about 30-20 frame average. ;)
