got 1500 notes for a motor

Jap import 2.2L si-vtec honda prelude. serious fun for the sorta money that you have to spend. group 17 insurance mind so be prepared for a sting there if you are young :) Clocked 145,000 miles in mine and have only just sold it as i got fed up of having to drop the seats to get the kids in and out. they loved it tho .. " daddy daddy make it go FWWWWWWAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRPPPPPP!!!!"

both my kids say they want vtec's when they can drive. hopefully they will be rich and buy their old man an s2000 ;)

Just to disprove this hand waving generalisation I have just done three quotes through Tesco for me to insure the above cars (all fully comp).

Civic VTi 1.8 £371
Alfa 156 2.5 V6 £420
Mondeo 2.5 V6 £435

What was that about expensive insurance again?

How old are you though? Age makes a big difference I find when it comes to engine size. I paid close to £3k to insure my M3 and I would have paid £2200 to insure a 1.6 RS Turbo. If I do a quote now I'm 21, I can insure the 2.5 V6 Alfa for £900 but I still can't insure any 'typical' boy racer car for a sensible price, all reaching well over the £1k mark.

I looked into buying an Integra Type R, Elephant wanted £1800 off me.... I can insure a Merc S500 with a 5.0 V8 for only £2k, a porsche boxster for £2200 and a Z3M for £2500...

As much as I like Honda's (although I don't like Japanese cars as a whole), they are considered to be boy racer cars and that pushes the insurance through the roof for younger drivers.

Another thing too, If i had the choice of paying £50 more insurance and having the Alfa's 2.5 V6 over the 1.6, I know what I'd take :/
