Got £2000 to spend - Best system?

Hi,

It's been four years since I bought a PC. I aren't interested in building one as I aren't confident about breaking stuff.

I'm prepared to spend £2k at OC on a gaming PC as - frankly - I don't know what other sites to shop on nowadays and I guess they're all comparative? But I also hear OCUK are really good with support etc so that helped me make up my mind :)

Anyway, I want a big monitor OR TV (28" min) with high refresh rate as I suffer from a disease called retinoschisis which means I have problems seeing small text / contrast etc and a kick butt PC. Also I want Win7 as well, Win10 is awful. I don't think OCUK sell Win7 now so I'll be installing that myself on arrival so you can shave the £110 off the OS cost or whatever (in other words £2k is my limit on OCUK and I'll get Win7 elsewhere etc)

Open to recommendations from all you PC GURUS :)

Really appreciate the assistance guys :)

You want to spend 2000 pounds on a new PC and you don't even want to game in Direct X 12? How does that make any sense. You really need Win 10.
If you're worried about microsoft spying on you with 10, they've retro-fitted that to 7 now too.

You need to build it yourself really - there's plenty of tutorials and things to watch on youtube and plenty of people here to help you.

Everyone feels the same way before they build a PC and then wonders why they were worried after doing so. Pretty much just plug things in the correct and easily identifiable holes.

The system linked above me costs 2300£ and comes with an i5 and a Nvidia 1070.....that's not very good value for money.

You could build i7 and 1080 for a lot less if you do it yourself.

I just don't see the need to build it yourself when the cost difference is about £50 and you don't get any peace of mind. And it's hassle. :)

Get something along the lines of:

AMD 1600 CPU & O/C it with a B350 m/b
16GB DDR4
1080 Ti (Aorus/Strix/Gaming X) - all the others are loud.
144hz monitor 1440p - the largest 144hz gsync monitor is 27" freesync 144hz i upto 35" but you'll need an AMD GPU to use freesync. Perhaps an ultrawide would help with your condition?

AMD Vega GPU's will be released soon, so you have options if you are prepared to wait a little.

To be fair DX12 in it's current state is utter rubbish outside of tech demos. The only API that has shown some real world performance yield has been vulkan. And im pretty sure that's not limited to windows 10.

Windows 10 isn't for everyone, plus op could've mentioned Linux, makes no difference.

I don't know how much oc would charge to build the separates, but this would be a good system and I've also included a Intel prebuilt system for comparison. Figured the monitor I chose would suit both options with the 580 at choice, so factor that cost in with the prebuilt, keyboard & mouse is down to personal preference, just thought I'd add it in.

@thundyuk worth calling up OCUK with lists and see what they can do, should be able to get you a better target then what they have listed as defaults/ or little tweak kits and get the best between built by OCUK and custom lists that have been suggested here. Get your cake and eat it!

AMD/Free-sync/Adaptive-Sync set up to hit High frame rates and wide screen

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,937.95
(includes shipping: £23.10)

could wait for Ryzen to cut down two cards that might not always be support in your games library with Vega but no idea on pricing.
I this this route but with XTR versions of the card

G-sync/Intel version
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £2,080.64
(includes shipping: £14.70)

bit over the price but Includes combo deal from OCUK for cpu/mobo/ram and cooler! might be able to sort you out with full rig discount

Put main focus in the monitor first then priced up around best options for Green team or Red Team monitors with both large size and high refresh rate

you best ditch the naming of competitors before the mods catch it :)

believe OP is after a built system , lists have been posted to give them a feel of what they could get or could ask Builders such as OCUK to possible make etc etc

I have just change it, But this is just a forum so I don't know why the mods would be unhappy

You're not allowed to name /mention competitors :)

So What happen to helping the new members or people who just searches the web looking for some good advice on their new computer parts now we must be "dishonest" on this forum because we should not be allowed to name /mention other competitors :) on the market been cheaper if that is what you mean!! In my opinion I would really be P-off if I shopped on OCUK knowing I could have saved over two hundred pounds in cash. And my online members didn't help me? So we are only here to help OCUK to earn a good business?.

WOW!

And there's me thinking it's just a good Computer form and not money driven

AOURUS its Overclockers forum if you run a business and someone said get it cheaper down the road how do think you would react ?

What they dont tell you is about Overclockers customer service (whats price do you put on that ?) and thats why there sutch a great following here.

Anyone will be able to google and find price comparison, simples.

I don't buy from this site as if I can get whatever local and same day even at a small increase for convenience I will, but also I sell parts to fund new ones so usually cash I have, soon I'll be able to buy stuff online again, however I don't come on here all cocky about it, OCuk are actually cheaper than a lot of places if you actually do your research they also get better reviews in most cases.

Anyways back on topic, I listed a prebuilt, but whatever is decided, if you going to spend 2k on a built system you are best off with ryzen whether a monitor is needed or not or buy something suitable for a grand including monitor then wait till what the new stuff coming will offer.

If someone’s capable of signing up to an online forum I’m fairly confident they can use the Google search function. If they can’t then a potential £200 overspend is the least of their problems.

If you were to read other OcUK forums you will see that most seasoned members will advise the uninitiated to shop around if funds are tight. It’s mentioned subtly and shows respect to OcUK who fund these forums.

Plus, you are in the 'OcUK Full System Builds Forum' which pretty much dictates where discussion of the parts will be coming from – more so than any other Forum on the OcUK site.

All they ask is that you don't directly mention or link to competitors - which seems valid and fair given that they fund the forums.

OK I am not here to cause trouble with you long time members only to make a point in my opinion, I understand everyone & your point that you are talking about and not to mention or link to competitors, point noted. But times have change allot now I think there should be some changes a forum should just be a forum, and OCUK should cut their prices allot and do competition with others with online shopping to stay in business, many shop retailers do same now days. it's now all about "competition" and saving money why pay Extra £!!!.00 for the same computer parts?

Because when yoda teach me has a jedi he open my eyes not closed them:)
