got £60 to spend on a keyboard

lol guys, i dont really drink tbh, plus it was a birthday present off the gf, ended up getting that one i linked, the one mentioned for 3 quid more when i checked was 73 quid, mustve been a deal i missed, i shall let u kno how i get on with this one sometime tomorrow

keyboard arrived, very nice feel to the keys, the num lock and caps lock are extremely bright lol, keyboard feels very sturdy, i like the braided cable and the routing options under the keyboard itself, sso far seems like very good build quality, will get some gaming in tonight an see how i get on, it is a touch smaller width wise than i thought, but i usually game with my keyboard on my knee anyway, so should be ok

Look forward to reading what you think of it! :) Especially noise levels when typing.

Can't decide if it is worth the extra over the corsair raptor k30 (£30)

edit:

Lol, exactly the same post time! :D :p

haha well timed, decided im gona try some gaming now, thought i would jump on my dayz server an see whats what, typing noise does sound a touch loud, but not gona bother me, iv usually got something blaring through my headset

Bah!

A month or so later and I still just don't know what to do  :o

You trying to decide between the K30 and a mechanical? Personally, I'd say go for the mech if you can afford to - it will save you in the long run.

I used to go through membrane boards pretty often, found them losing that nice new feeling quite quick - I've had my MK 85 for a year now and I still love it, feels as good as ever :)

Yeah K30 (£30) or CM storm quickfire TK red switches (£73)

This is how I am looking at it:

k30

- quieter
- looks way nicer imo
- far cheaper
- dedicated media controls

CM storm

- feels better/nicer (Only used a black switch keyboard and it did feel a lot nicer so I imagine the red will be more or less the same just less force required)
- more durable
- lighter force required to activate keys
- smaller

Still not 100% sure on the cm storm key layout either, I like how it is smaller but at the same time I don't know if the arrow/num keypad layout would be a bit annoying to use as I do use the mute, volume control, F12, F5, scroll lock and arrow keys a fair bit......

Completely agree on the looks and layout argument, the Corsair is a really nice looking board.

From the 2 choices I'm guessing you are after something with backlighting? Otherwise I would have suggested the MK 50 which is on offer at the moment - much more conventional layout. That or the Corsair K65 and a £5 USB numberpad that you can throw in a drawer when not needed?

Noise-wise the reds will be louder yes, but I've fitted some rubber o-ring dampeners to my board and it has helped with the noise a lot; more importantly though it makes the keys feel much nicer, they have a softer landing and the travel is reduced so I'm able to actuate keypresses 'faster' - they were only £2 for 100 :)

I've sent you another left-field option via trust too...

Yup! Back lighting is a must! :p

I looked at the k65 but it doesn't have any back lighting and I don't really fancy having the numpad separate to the main keyboard.

I think I could eventually get use to the cm storm layout and I suppose I could always remap the key bindings for F12 etc. to some other key....

If I do get the cm storm keyboard, I'll definitely buy some o rings too! Being use to membrane keyboards, especially my current one, which requires a bit more force to activate the keys, I will be bottoming out non stop!

Thanks for all the help, currently replying to your email now :)

I just bought myself a Logitech G105. It had the Call Of Duty logo branded on it but that was easy to cover up. Only cost me a shade over £20.

Thanks for the suggestion :)

Think I am going to go with the cm storm though, might as well wait and see if it is on a today only deal tomorrow though :p

been using it, very nice, i notice that the end/pgdown/pgup/home buttons are on the numpad, but i have no idea how to use them, tried alt's, ctrl, shift buttons, but they dont work there is no indication of how to use them
