Went to go get me a Defy 4 today after looking at a lot of reviews, I mean a lot.. Haha.
I ended up getting a Defy 3 instead, but a newer one haha, can't believe what I'm like, my budget was 800 and I priced 300 into accessories and clothing and ended up changing the budget around, I told him what the budget was and he said I would be silly to not go to the model above.
I did a chsrity ride for CRUK yesterday, 90kms, after doing that on a hard tail 29er I decided enough was enough haha, I think it would have been easier on a road bike, the guys at the end were praising me for completing it on the mtb haha.
But yeah, back on subject, I genuinely cannot wait now for this roadie, going to use the standard pedals for the time being and then upgrade when I'm used to the bike a bit more, never riden one so I want to get to grips with it and get a few miles under my belt before I change those.
When reading reviews I've read a lot on the Sora range and that the 9speed is much more desirable, he said he would have liked to have put me on the 2 but the budget I had would have been 70 over and I didn't want that. These guys don't work on commission either, the salesman was really good, I told him what I wanted, he told me what he had and what he had used and choose me some cheaper options of what I was looking for, gave me fantastic advice on the riding and on the clothing and the washing of said clothing etc.. Very informative.
But yeah, joining the roadie club, going to still use the mtb but not as much, I'll use the roadie for longer rides and most of my commuting and the mtb for leisurely riding with the mrs and with friends.
Very excited now. The bug has caught me immensely, £1400 on cycling in 3 months haha.
