Hey all,

So I got a 400D today with a sigma 70-300mm lens. It's ******* awesome :D Although, it didn't feel nice handing over £570 of cash that was in my hand.

Soo anyway here it is (crappy pic):

Well anyway, i've got a question: I or err someone :P managed to 'accidently' force the manual focus wheel on my sigma. Now, im not too sure, but it seems to focus okay in my dark room but when I try to focus it at something a lot closer it seems to judder and 'try' to focus/rotate the wheel but it doesn't move an awful lot - have I broken it? :o

edit

after saying that, I just went and moved it trying to take the hood off the end of it

Oh and, do I have to move the focus thing right back or should it do it itself even in AF mode?

Cheers.

I'm not sure what you mean but the Sigma does hunt around a lot trying to get a focus esp in low light conditions and also the minimum focus is something like a metre hth

aye I see what you mean, its probabaly just me. It seems to go back and forth about 1/2 a CM looking like its jammed... but then again its okay with longer distanced objects.

cheers

It's because your trying to focus too close, the lens will have a limit of how close it can focus to a subject.

The object is probably too close for the lens to focus. How close was the object to the camera?
I always use manual focus for close ups / macro work.
