My daughter has an Ipod and I thought I'd buy some tunes using her Itune software and then transfer them to my pc. Now my pc won't play them as it does'nt recognize the format, can I convert them so I can put them with the rest of my mp3's ?? Sorry I know it's a noob question !

there's a program called switch that can convert them

google "switch audio" should find it

its freeware and downloads codecs as it needs them for converting

Protected ACC files (which) these MP4 ares because they came from iTunes can't be converted. They are protected with DRM. You can burn a CD of them in iTunes then rip back on to your PC. But to be honest they'll only be in 128kps which isn't good quality, and you'd have to re tag them. Much better to buy the CD 2nd hand and rip that in a better bitrate using lame. Probably cheaper than buying them iTunes in the first place.
