Hi, I've just collected a LX7, does anyone have any questions that I can help with?

It's not exciting compared to the RX100 but there might be some LX3/5 users on here thinking about upgrading.

Ooh nice!

I'm thinking of getting a nice compact for my gf's bday, and i'm wondering if this would be something girls would be interested in?

How's the weight, IQ and functionality?

Will it fit easily in a pocket, and is the build quality good, i'd imagine it would be in her bag, rolling around with all the usual junk you'd find, just wanna know if it can withstand a few minor knocks.

She has a 550d, and shoots in auto, i've been trying to teach her the basics, but she's interested in photography and takes looooads of pics.

I'm looking at the rx100 as well, but that's a little too much, and tbh, i'd rather have that myself haha!

I already have an x10, which she likes, but don't want to buy one for her as well.

Cheers

Right;

- I think the LX7 is a little lighter and smaller compared to the X10 (50g) It will not fit in a pocket (get S100 or RX100)

- However, you will definately notice the weight, its no Canon S100

- Ergomonics are excellent, I think only the Canon GX1, Nikon P7000/7700 and the X10 do better in the compact sector

- It had a metal case and feels robust as any compact

- Note, it has a manual lens cap (which might actually be good because they are much stronger when rolling around a handbag compared to automatic leaf ones)

- Very responsive, people on DPREVIEW have said its much quicker compared to the GX1, S100 and P7000

- With regard to IQ, how should I comment? Against the 550d it will be worse in all scenarios except macro.
