Hey everyone,

I just got myself a mac and was wondering what you guys recommend me using for the following tasks.

1. Torrent client, i really liked utorrent for windows but dont know if thats available on mac?? but anything that isnt too confusing to use

2. On linux I am able to have a folder that connects to Uni server and gives me a graphical view on my folders at uni, is there anyway doing that on the mac?

3. What do you guys use for MSN, would be nice to have everything working i.e. cam, mic, and just normal stuff

Also is there anyway of making a window maximise the entire screen including the dock, so the dock is shown on top of the app window??

Any help would be great

1) Transmission http://www.transmissionbt.com

2) Not sure what you mean

3) I use the official MSN Messenger, only the poor-looking clients support camera, Adium is a good alternative to the official client, but doesn't support cameras either.

4) Yes, but you need to drag it manually, once you've done that it will remember the size the next time you open it.

1. There is/was a Mac port in the works, most people around here use a prog called Transmission

2. You can mount network shares if that is what your getting at...

3. Adium most of the time, doesn't work with cam and mic though. Amsn does afaik although it is pretty buggy

Pressing the green button at the top left should maximize the window. Plus you can drag it yourself from the bottom right

Thanks dude, I tried dragging the window but it only goes up to the dock and not stretch behind it, any ideas?? I'm probably just being stupid.

Its hard to explain with the linux thing, but basically I guess it would be a finder few of a folder on a server, if that helps at all

But thank you for the help

cheers will 3rd yeah i got firefox to stretch it was safari that wasnt stretching.

As for connecting to server, what you suggested seems like the exact thing I want but it needs to connect to an ssh server, which the method u suggested doesnt seem to support.

Any ideas??

Im slowly getting there guys, just last thing, is there any programs you think I should get, any must have programs for mac??

Im looking into getting microsoft office for mac, and also iworks, heard keynotes is good, but anything else??

Thanks

Does anyone know of a database for mac that can cope with Access tables. I would quite like to migrate to Mac but quite a bit of what I do is tied up in Access and retyping is not an alternative.

The other software for Mac is fine, NeoOffice or MS Office will do for other things. I would quite like to be able to put the lot onto a laptop to be able to carry the data round to barious meetings too.
