I know there are a few computer people on here, so thought i would see if you can tell me the problem.

Monitor: Acer H223HQ
Graphics: on board HD3300.

A title says when using a VGA cable i can set my screen res to 1920x1080 without a problem but if i try to use a DVI cable it dont work the screen flashing black every few seconds. Iv rang tec support from where i got the monitor from & they say if its works with VGA just use it that way as i wont see a diff between VGA & DVI imo there is a slight difference & the DVI is slightly shaper picture.

I can use the DVI up to 1280x1024 before i start getting any problems. My graphics drivers are all up to date etc.

So anyone know what the problem might be please

Have you tried another DVI cable?

Strange issue, and DVI has a noticable difference over VGA for me, so I wouldn't settle for that.

Hmm, I used a program which forced certain resolutions out over DVI a while ago, rather handy...

Let me just have a look and see if I can find it again.

Cool, should sort it out temporary, but it's worth pointing out I had to RMA my monitor to fix my problem.

Basically it wouldn't display over a certain resolution where it was rated to 1920x1200. That app allowed me to force 1920x1200, but whenever plugging into another PC it would still think it was a lower rez :(

I think i can rule the monitor out as the problem as iv used someone else's PC for 30mins with my monitor & DVI cable & it works perfectly fine at 1920x1080 via DVI connection. Was using a 9800GT graphics card in there system.

So im really stumped as to why i can use DVI from my onboard at 1280x1024 but if i go to 1920x1080. It starts flashing on n off at me.

IV tried powerstrip but dont fix the probelm. Iv double checked my drivers are up to date & they are.

My board (biostar TA790GX 128M) is a week under a 1 year old, so i guess maybe iv got the option to RMA or i guess get a new graphics card if i want to use DVI at the higher screen res.
