the problem is when i start it up it does its normal 'clear dust' spin up

1-3 secs later it cuts out and i have to start it again, i need to repeat this step 20-30 times untill some thing has warmed up, then it will work fine with no problem

ive now taken it out my case on my desk, took every thing apart and cleaned it,
press power button on mobo,it still does it!

i disconnected the cpu power, so its just 24 pins connected now, press power, and it went first time with no probs, i let it warm up and reconnected cpu power, and its working with no probs,

could some one tell me which one is busted?

Many thanks

Alex

What mobo is this? I had a similar problem with a Gigabyte P965 DS3P mobo, disconnected the 4/8 pin connector and the board fired up. I then went into the BIOS, did a reset to default, switched off and then plugged the cable back in and never had the problem again. Another thing to check is that when the PSU power cables are plugged in non of the pins in the connector are being pushed up and out.
