Posted this in here as I think the problem could be a few areas of hardware.
Mate asked me to look at his PC. On switching on the pc lights up as does the HDD light. But nothing on the display. I see fans turning and mobo light on. I have tried a differant graphics card. Still no display. I also tried a different HDD still no display.
I am now wondering if his mobo is borked? Any thoughts appreciated.

Are there any beeps when it powers up, if not, remove the ram and boot up, if it still does not beep, take the mobo out of the case, blow off any dust and power it up outside of the case, it may just be a short and this will prove either way.

Hi and thanks for the quick response. When I first opened the case it was the worst case of dust I have ever seen. I cleaned it all out with compressed air.
No beeps on start up and everything seated well. Iwill try removing RAM.

Does the board have any onboard graphics?

If at any point the CMOS was reset you could be looking at simply plugging the monitor back into the onboard until its disabled again.

If there is no onboard, just follow the other comment and try 1 stick of memory...... if still no joy, take it out try the other stick, and so on....

1 more thing, and i'm only saying this because i had this happen literally a few days ago to me. Are you testing using the same monitor?.... i was working a PC the other day and thought i has totally screwed the motherboard when i had the same issue you mention, until i plugged it into another monitor, not sure what had caused the issue but unplugging all the monitor cables and plugging them back in got the monitor working again, but i had'nt realised the monitor had any issues since it was in use upto the point of working on a friends PC.

Let us know how you get on.. ;)

tried removing RAM and still no beeps or display either without or put back in. I will try resetting the CMOS but think its a replacement mobo? Anymore thoughts? The mobo is an Asus P4S8X-X
