Hi guys got a telephone interview on friday with O2 for a customer services adviser and wondering if any guys out there can tell me what to expect and any tips. This is my first interview in 2 1/2 years and my first ever telephone interview so a little nervous. Really want to get this as it gets me out of bar work which I'm a little fed up of. Anyway thanks for reading and any help appreciated.

Be polite and speak clearly. Also ask them questions if you aren't sure of anything, even if you're pretty sure ask them to confirm things.

Put them on hold for 15mins, you'll get the job straight away.

:D:D

@OP - Don't talk too fast, nerves have a habit of making people speak to quickly and this won't do you any favours especially considering the job you are applying for. People are more likely to listen if you speak a little slower, not too slow though. ;)

Dont ummm and ehhh its really noticable over the phone. There's nothing wrong with taken a few seconds of silence to compose yourself and structure your answer.

When I got a job 8 years ago with T-Mobile (one2one then) the phone interview is for the sole purpose to make sure you speak clearly on the phone and can be understood.

They made up some stupid senario like they had lost their phone on the bus and wanted advice as to what to do.

Do:
  • Speak clearly
  • Speak at a matched pace and tone of the interviewer
  • Ask if your not sure
Don't:

  • Have any unxplained silences
  • use ummm. ahhh or errr a lot
  • mumble
  • speak at 100 miles an hour
  • swear (you'd be suprised at the amount of people that do in this situation)
