Got a (very) old Quad CPU server here, worth doing anything with?

I saw this ages ago in a computer shop, it was around £200 I think. It was interesting so I bought it :p

I tested it when I bought it and it boots and works.

Here are the specs, all I know about it myself:

The hard drives are 10,000RPM SCSI drives, the CPU's are 200Mhz Pentium Pros.

And here it is, currently serving as a stand for my consoles

hmmn, that's one mighty large door stop. :p

i suppose you could use it as file server/download box. not much else it can do really. :)

WOW thats rather cool! stick a small opengl pci card in it ind have some random retro multi-tasking gaming on the thing! Or failing that give it a raz with linux if you have any free time :P

Yeah linux is great for old junk like that :P make a fileserver/download box, or a firewall as suggested above (also Linux) or a development machine if you're into that.

the superfast bit was refering to the hdd, you could sell them they will get you some cash easily i would have thought.

The processors will ran fanless for silence. I run dual slot 1 PIII 450's with just a massive hs on each one.

the 10,000 rpm drives may make a bit of a noise though. Acess times may be pretty fast, even by todays standards.

I think it was a pretty serious server at the time it was made. It has triple redundant PSU's at the minute, no idea how much power the thing sucks up  .

Doing up the case sounds like a good idea, its absoloutely massive.
