Ok heres the problem. My HD recently died so i had to get another which i did and then i formatted and installed WinXP SP2 and at the time i did i had my other sata drive connected and after windows had installed the boot drive became "E: drive" and the SATA which is just a backup drive became "C: Drive". i changed the backup drive to F: drive but cannot change the E:drive (windows) to C: because it is a boot drive.

So now seeing as my windows drive is E: some software will not install and its giving me a headache. So now when i install any hardware that becomes C; drive and i have to change the letter in windows managment.

Is there anyway i can change the windows drive to C: ????

much appreciated.

reformat with all other drives disconnected

no other way to do it

Yup, only way.

Ive done this loads of times when building PCs with card readers. Always disconnect before installing. :(

some programs claim to be able to do it, but with something as important as the os, its worth starting over, so you know its all working correctly
