So i left college in July and haven't had a job since then.

I have tried hard (even though most of you will probably not believe that)

My brother has a friend who is the regional manager for The Link and told me to put my CV in as he has recommended me :D

I got a phone call asking for a phone interview.

The next day i had a phone interview which just consisted of me telling them when the last time i was in a team and when the last time i helped someone with a buying decisision and how good i felt doing it etc...

Got a phone call yesterday asking if i could come in for a proper interview tomorrow at 12:30.

What will they be looking for?

A confident person with a lot to say?

As i'm a very confident person.

What kind of things will they ask me that i didn't already answer on the phone interview?

Wish me good luck btw please.

I haven't even had a job interview in all of the time i've been unemployed.

I've applied for hundreds of jobs and this is my first interview.

It's only a part-time job but it gets me off of JSA so i'm happy.

Wish me good luck please :D

Good Luck Andy, not sure what they will ask tbh, my last interview was basically "You got the job", so not really been through a proper interview.

I'm exactly in the same boat as you. Although I did do a bit of travelling after I graduated.

Read a book somewhere that more people get jobs through contacts than adverts in papers/websites. Problem is though I don't have mnay contacts.

There is a thread on these forums which will guide you through an interview, though I haven't looked.

Anyways, all the best and hope you succeed.

Edit: Found it http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17469564&highlight=interview+huddy .

Good luck with it :)
I'd guess they'll probably ask you some team related questions to see if you're good working in a team, as well as possibly give you a few examples of irate customers and see how you would handle them. They also asked me about when I went 'above the call of duty for a customer' and what moments at work I was particularly proud of in the past.

I'm not sure but I've had 2 interviews at phone retailers (Orange and CPW) and they both had questions like the ones above. Basically they just wanted to check I'd get on well with the team I think and whether you're determined.

As well as that: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17469564 excellent guide from Mr Huddy :) I read it before the CPW interview and I got it so must have done something :p

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I gave Mr Huddy's thread a read and i've prepared a few answers dependant on the questions i'm asked.

Been told to just be myself and be confident as it's for a sales position (i take after my brother with the confidence thing as he's a car salesman).

So i'm just going to show them that i'm confident, enthusiastic and can bring a friendly personality to the workplace with a professional nature.

Wish me luck as i'm going in a bit :D

At the end they may well ask you if you have any questions, my advice is make sure you have.

By asking topical questions about what you will be doing training etc (not staff discounts) you will show them that you have listened during the interview and are keen to learn. You are increadably knowledgeable about phones already so I am sure you will be a great asset to their team.

I'll have my fingers crossed for you. What time is the interview?

That's the same pay as I get with CPW. If you're on commission though, it does help a lot. I know many of the people I work with earn the same again just on commission alone so effectively they're on £10 an hour and I know one of the guys made £150 commission in one day :o
All depends how much you sell of course.

I wouldn't completely rule it out if I were you, it's a job after all plus you'd be learning a lot of skills which would look good on a CV.

money is money at the end of the day, you can always look for another job while your working there, it will also give you more work experience. It would get you out of the house and doing something worthwhile:)

My calculations may be way off but bear with me for a second 4.25(hourly wage)*15(average hours p/w)*52(assuming no weeks off) = 3315 which is still below the Personal Allowance of £4895. Not much consolation but at least you shouldn't be paying tax. I still don't know from your post if you got the job or not? If you did congratulations.

They pay is low, but as others have said that's you basic pay and does not include bonuses; which could be quite significant. My sister works in a phone shop and her basic pay is low, but with commission and bonuses it's a healthy salary at the end of the day.

And indication on how the interview went though? :)
