ok well i have done it , i have a his iceq 3870 512 gddr4 and i was going to return it and get a x2 , but insted i have gone for the option of the other his iceq gddr4 and will run them in cross fire on my pcie2 x38 mobo ,
i took it that i will have gddr4 instaed of the gddr3 of the x2 , and the fact my his has overclocked to 885 on the core and 2150 on the memory i will bench once i get card on friday , cant wait now think i made a good decision?
 
I hope that you dont have problems with crossfire, but I reckon that you will. Thats why i would rather have the X2 because those have been solved more or less.
 
Is the X2 solution not meant to be a lot better than 2x HD3870's for the internal crossfire solution though?.

You'll still get great performances no doubt but the above poster (Final8y) said he had a few problems that weren't on the X2.

Think you made the right call m8, anyone with an X38 would be better with 2 single cards imho.
