On friday me and a mate went to an Asda in Nottingham (greenway or green something) We went to pay for the alcohol we bought and were asked for ID. Neither or us had any so my mate had to drive 30minutes back to his house to get it. He is 24 and I am 25 in 2 months. We look around 25, certainly not 18.

After getting annoyed and kicking up a bit of a fuss our stuff was put into a trolley and a 'runner' took it away until my mate returned with ID. When he got back we called for the runner and had to queue up again and pay for our stuff...

Now here's the stupid part. When we paid the woman on the till said sorry about that and didnt even ask for the ID! My mate then stormed off and asked for the store manager and made a complaint.

Fair enough if we get asked for ID if we dont look 25, but to make one of us drive home to get it, then not even ask for it is just stupid and very annoying

Anyone else been asked for ID? I read something in the paper a while ago about an 80 something year old guy who was asked for it

Why were you forced to go home to retrieve the ID if they didn't look at it?

yep, thats what confused me

You're buying alcohol you take your id what's hard about that :/

We were on our way to Vfest and didnt want to take wallets. Just had cash on us and it was on the way from mates house. (why we didnt want to go to another store) We also had a load of other stuff like food so didnt want to look for it all again

Some people even get a little annoyed when being asked for ID, when they actually have ID..

Like it's super effort to show someone the ID that you have on you...

Nothing worse than a customer huffing and puffing over something that takes 2seconds

as already said. Didnt want to take it as it would get lost where we were going

I got ID'd at 32, it was funny, your reaction wasn't. If that's how you behave sober maybe the store shouldn't have sold you alcohol full stop.

Maybe it was funny because you had ID. However we were all ready to go after this but had to waste an hour to then not even show it. Dont see the point in making us waste our time really

Well it's your fault. There is no point trying to shift the blame on random people who work on checkouts who are 'out to get you'. They didn't finish their shift and laugh at you for forgetting it. They carried on, went home and that was it. Next time, take your ID. It's not hard. I'm sure your reaction wasted THEIR time and annoyed everyone else waiting behind you.

No. A guy behind us said "Its a ****ing joke, I will be asked for ID next" He was probably in his 50s
I would understand a bit more if they asked to see it when we had it, but they didnt
