Got asked for ID in Asda

Maybe it was funny because you had ID. However we were all ready to go after this but had to waste an hour to then not even show it. Dont see the point in making us waste our time really

Maybe if you acted your age and didn't kick up a fuss about it then maybe they would've thought twice about it. Surprised you didn't get thrown out for being a ***.

Next time you'll know to take your ID.

I got asked for ID, gave them my drivers licence which says im 17 and got served for alcohol after 4 shop workers tried to work out my age :o

I just act flattered when I get ID'd :D (I'm 22 :p)

Shops' policies are going up with my age - when I was 18 it was "do you look 18?" then I crossed that and it was "are you 21?" now it's "need a walking stick?" :p

Morrisons in Newport (IOW) were refusing to sell alcohol to people under 25 at the festival last year (2008) its crazy but companies have policies for a reason.

No. A guy behind us said "Its a ****ing joke, I will be asked for ID next" He was probably in his 50s
I would understand a bit more if they asked to see it when we had it, but they didnt

He must have been the one having a bad day then. :) I did the same if i wasn't sure about someone's age. There have been many times when i have checked their ID and they turn out to be younger than me but look much older. It is difficult to take a gamble and if in doubt, there is no harm in checking. I was speaking to someone at M&S and he was saying he would now get a criminal record if he sold the alcohol as well as a £1000 fine. Some people just don't want to take a chance, so they ask to keep their jobs intact.

I managed to do this pretty much all the time when I was 17, it only didn't work like 3 times :D

It has never not worked for me yet, my birthday is 31/12/91. I just say I was 18 last New Year and 19 this New Year. All 4 of the shop assistants were stood counting: 91, 92... 93, 94, 95 on their fingers all the way upto 09 and were agreeing that I was 18. They forgot that my birthday hasn't even been this year so this year doesn't count yet :o

LOL I was being half-serious there.

I know, but you were obviously tip-toeing around the words "provisional licence". Didn't really need pointing out. :p

Heh, that probably happened a lot. The amount of times you can just open your wallet and pull out a pink card, and they say it's okay without even checking it.

They did more than check it. There was a date on the computer which says which date you need to be born before to get served. After all 4 workers agreed that I was 18, one was the manager, she said the computer must be wrong and is going to change the date to 92 to be 18 not 91 :o

You have the stores address, or can easily find it. You can't have the cashiers details. Besides, they don't need the address, only the date of birth.

The store is not the one seeing my details, the cashier is.
They might not need the address but it is plainly visible for them to see.. and remember (and then write down later)

Best move to a remote mountain in the Himalayas then, eh? Oh and hope they don't have CCTV up there as well.

It's pretty funny. Never been ID'd myself but it's usually the 18-year old till workers that ID you and they look about 12 themselves. I'm still waiting for when I do get ID'd so I can ask them if they have any.

Don't you have to be 18 to serve alchohol anywhere?

I find it hard to believe there isn't a place between Nottingham and Chelmsford that you could have gone to on the way and not been ID'd
