I am in the process of upgrading my computer. I have bought the following, and is all built ready for a cpu to be installed.

I Didnt have enough in my pay packet to buy a cpu when i bought this lot so i am buying it next friday lol

Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (new)
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (new)
1800xt with zalman (new)
2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB (new)
X-Fi extreme music (already had)
520 watt powerstream (already had)
Eclipse Case (already had)
Nec dvd writer (already had)

I have the Zalman CNPS9500-AT to cool the cpu. Basically i'm trying to decide between the 6300, 6400 or 6600. I would like to clock it around 3ghz to be honest, what do you think would be the best value for money and preformance between the three?

Hmm tricky, in the end I went for the E6600, the 4Mb cache does help abit and the 9x multiplyer.

Im at 400x7 (2.8 @ 1.25V - 1.21V actual) and once I get a new cooler that will be 3.2-3.6ghz with 1.55V.

I'd go for the E6600 :)

I would say go for the E6600, having tried both in my P5WDH
My E6300 clocked well enough, but to get to 3GHz you need an FSB of circa 428, due to the 7x Multiplier......E6400 would need 375 FSB...whereas the E6600 only needs 333 FSB.

I took my E6300 to 2.87GHz (410 FSB) without too much difficulty, but opted for the E6600 (got a good price here ;)) and found it well suited to the P5WDH

Also consider that the E6600 has the higher cache memory.....but is more money......six of one, half a dozen of another ;) .... either way, there is no bad choice with these chips :D

Many have said that 965 chipsets are better suited to 6300/6400, whereas the 975x chipsets tend to suit the 6600/6700.......for me, I prefer not to run as high a FSB, where possible, hence the E6600 suits me better
