I rang up to add an additional driver to my insurance, they didnt take any details just asked who it was, i said my sister and they said ok you will recieve your documentation within 7 days and you are covered as of now till 1st june (temp insuracne) was this an incompetant phone operator or the norm?!
Got insured tpday but im confused!

sounds like they have added an Any Driver endorsement. With this you don't need to name the drivers.
I would check to see if a named driver change would be cheaper (they usually are), though if you are young and make, adding your sister won't make much difference as you are (statistically) the one who costs the insurer.
