Problem - every time i try and install the nvidia drivers for this Geforce 5200 it gets to half way through, the screen goes black and then turns off. I have tried this a few times and get the same every time apart from once when i had a screen full of P's then the monitor turned off :(

The only way back is to go into safe mode and do a system restore, otherwise the monitor turns off again as soon as windows starts to load...

This is my boy’s pc and im using a fresh install of xp with all updates done.
Nvidia 5200
Asus A8v Deluxe
A64 3500

The nvid driver im using is the latest - 81.98. I have also tried an older nvid driver already with no luck.

Running out of idea's..

TIA

Just been looking in the VGA properties and under resources im getting this

Conflicting device list
Input/Output Range 03B0 - 03BB used by:
VIA CPU to AGP2.0/AGP3.0 Controller
Input/Output Range 03C0 - 03DF used by:
VIA CPU to AGP2.0/AGP3.0 Controller
Memory Range 000A0000 - 000BFFFF used by:
VIA CPU to AGP2.0/AGP3.0 Controller

No, it dosent have onboard video.

Every time i restart now it disables the graphics card because of the conflict. In device mgr it says the CPU to AGP2.0/AGP3.0 Controller does not have enough resources.

Could this be a power issue? or software? :(

Have you installed the chipset drivers yet? If not, do so. If you have, try removing the CPU to AGP controller in the Device Manager and perhaps the resources will be properly allocated when you reboot.
