Got money! ...HELP!

You have a system thats nearly identical to mine, except for the 7800gt so another alternative is to scour the MM for ppl offloading their x1900xt/xtx cards ready to get the next latest/greatest replacement. Theres gonna be some good deals shortly, so deffo worth waiting to see what comes up. Atm, you could get an X1900XT 512meg for around the £150-£160 with aftermarket and original cooler and an XTX for about £15-£20 more. A lot of these cards will only be a few months old so warranties would still be valid (though its worth checking that these are transferrable). And if you've only got a 1gig of memory atm, then get another also, lotsa games like 2gig, especially BF2, DOW, etc.

Gonna get extra one gig and Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ULTIMATE SILENT as its on This Week Only and the price of £140 is really nice, also its fairly fast at stock and can be clocked extremely well. Everyone ok with this now?

Perfectly fine, i dont see why everyone is saying get the x1950pro and save for the GTS, do you all think a 1950pro is only gona last about a fortnight, so he will have to get the GTS, no of course he wont, as as i said by the time he needs to upgrade again the GTS is going to be ancient, i just can't see why everyone is saying to get the pro and save for the GTS when there is simply no need as the x1950pro has a longer life span than a fortnight.

Take me for instance, x1800 XT here still cutting through everything today, and ive had it over a year, so when i come to upgrade it, if i ask in here what i should get, i take it your all going to tell me to get an x1900 XT, i doubt it.

Just out of curiosity, how good are the XFX 7900GS XXX's? Been looking at those or a HIS X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 TURBO SILENT 256mb. Ye pretty sure its between those two. If 7900GS isnt any good (cant find any reviews) ill most likily go for the HIS X1950 Pro.

256MB XFX 7900GS XXX, PCI-E (x16), Mem 1600 MHz, GPU 600 MHz, 20 Pipes, Dual DVI/HDTV

Vs.

HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 256MB 620MHz Turbo, 1480MHz Turbo

I like to make as thorugh choice as possible before spending my money, sorry for repeating myself so much :(

I'd go for the HIS x1950 Pro myself, out of those two. You'll get HDR +AA and a quiet cooler that takes air out of the case. If you were going to get a 7900GS I'd go for the OCuk ones as they are good clockers, by all accounts.

Also the after-sales on XFX isn't supposed to be great.

It isn't, and their customer support especially is abysmal. I used to be a huge fan of XFX for my Nvidia graphics cards and they ended up crapping on me time after time, and this was before the 7900GT fiasco which luckily did not affect me (but did get XFX products in that range banished from OcUK for a time, due to their pathetic support.)

So, my advice is for everyone to ditch XFX products and soon as possible and switch to a much more reliable manufacturer with great warranties such as BFG and EVGA.

im kinda new here so forgive me, but whats MM?

MM= Members Market, it's in the FAQ. Basically like the auction house, but no scammers and only computer parts :o)

You need 250 posts and to have been a member for 3 months, then activate Trust

Get the X1950 Pro sime ;) It's the better card, ATI are winning this side of DX!

Ive decided to get a Gainward Geforce 7950GT 256MB for £160, bit over budget but ive looked at some reviews and suppose to be brilliant all around.

Hmm. That's not a bad card but for an extra £2.14 you could get x1950xt, which is a fair bit faster especially in games like Oblivion: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-063-CO

I agree, the x1950 xt rules this price bracket. If your going NVidia, then you should be spending less than £125 or more than £250. ATi have the middle ground sewn up.

Hmm accuatlly your right, on This review, its absolutly ripped appart the 7950...Think ill buy 1950XT then, want to buy something htats going to last me abit longer :)

Ordered 1950XT!
