well i got my new 7950 today (msi twin frozr iii) i do have one problem with it though it sometimes sticks at like 300 or 500mhz instead of the 880 it should be and also the memory is like 150mhz! is this a big problem or is it something i can fix its seems as soon as you up the clocks its fine! anyone know what this is?

im running the 7.8 drivers

my card's setting at the mo is:
voltage: 993 msi setting
idle:0.85v (hw monitor reading)
under load: 1.13v max (hw monitor reading)
core clock: 880
memory clock: 1250

it runs really cool
35c idle and under the heaven benchmark i did it maxed at 52c

the heaven score at:1920x1080
shaders:high
textures: high
filter: trilinear
antrisopy: 4x
occlusion: enabled
refraction: enabled
volumetric: enabled
tesselation: normal
i got a score of 1521 is that about right?

whats the max volt increase for this card? and whats the general overclock people get?
i have aslo seen threads where people show of a score to 100 like 82.1 or something what is this and wher can u find?
i also think i got the 7970 pcb as i have the 6+8 power conections or is this normal?
do you also use the power (%) when doing the overclock? with volts or? whats does this actually do?
sorry i have overclocked my graphic cards before but just not messed with volts and i know this is where it gets potentially dangerous
thanks for any help

It has three sets of core and memory clocks,it cycles depending on gpu load the same way your cpu clocks up and down,150mhz core and 300mhz memory are the idle/power saving clocks, soon as you watch a video or game it will jump to full clock speeds

thats what i thought it would be a down clocking mechanism but the problem wazza sometimes it doesnt come out of that mode it just stays there.

How did you check? It jumps back down if you alt-tab out of a game,I doubt you'd get 1500 points in heaven if it stayed on idle clocks, the power percentage in ccc adds stability if maxing the ccc overdrive sliders,to push further and unlock voltage adjustment you need to use msi afterburner or asus gpu tweak

On stock untouched voltage you should be able to max out the cc overdrive sliders

sorry i should have stated im using msi afterburner and i have done the un-official overclock to unlock the slider's (i thought i had to so did this before getting the card)

i had the afterburner fps overlay on which i had set to show the gpu and memory settings and usage.

Also have noticed ccc has stopped working I cannot open it even in administrator mode is there a curren fault on the new ccc? Have deleted and reinstalled with no joy will try again and see what happens.

Any oc advice for this card?

so fixed the cc issue did a whole windows reinstall and now the card is behaving like it should too hooorah.

any info on this card regarding oc clocks and maxium volts?

Maximum volts probably 1.25-1.3v, you will probably be limited by temps before you hit 1.3v.

Try raising the volts to 1.225v and then start ramping up your core clock.
