Apparently that's not quite right. It is possible to pass with less than a 3rd. It's a bit confusing and I don't think many unis do it. But basically 3rd, 2:2, 2:1, 1st is a pass with honours. Technically it's possible to pass without honours but in this day and age effectively a pass without honours is just a fail.MrWhippy said:distinction is the top score. often above 70%.
Masters are graded - Fail, Pass, Merit, Distinction
Bachelors are graded - Fail - 3rd, 2:ii (two-two), 2:i (two-one), 1st
but some uni's mix and match these systems a bit.

Yeah I think that is right. Either way generally a pass without honours is considered a fail since very few universities offer non-honours courses.MrWhippy said:now i could be wrong here, or it could (quite likely) be that some uni's choose to do it their own way, but i thought a course was either an honours course or not. and if it's not, (ie. what i think they used to call a 90 credit course) you can get a fail or a 3rd, 2:2, 2:1, 1st. but if it's an honours course (ie. used to be called 120 credit course), you can fail, or get a 3rd, 2:2, 2:1, 1st with honours, OR at the discretion of the uni, sometimes if you were going to fail the honours course, you could downgrade it to a non honours course, and thereby still pass it (because by turning it into a non honours course you effectively need to only accumulate 90 and not 120 credits).

ps. oh yeah, forgot to say, well done OP.
