Got my GTX460 :)

So got my GTX460 OC this morning. Clocked up to 815/2000 so far as playing Batman: AA very nicely (not sure how much of a good graphical test this is...)

One thing I've noticed, though, is that if I play Mirror's Edge, after a while the sound becomes horribly distorted. I didn't play this game with my old 4870, so I've no idea if it's a new problem with the 460. Can't find anyone else having problems specifically with ME, but there do seem to be a lot of posts about people getting sound distortion problems with GTX4xx cards...

Hmmm.

I play Mirrors Edge with my 460, and get no problems at all. Cracking card, and a huge improvement over my previous HD4770. Planning on getting another soon for some SLI fun :D

Keh??

The HD6850 1GB consumes around 35W to 50W less than a GTX460 1GB according to Anandtech and XBit labs. AFAIK,the 450W OCZ PSU mentioned by MobyDick was released in 2005.

but you didnt answer his question only posted in a way to promote ATi :p

450w should be fine for that card anyway people over estimate what psu they need

OCZ have not made a 450W PSU for years so I assume it is a OCZ ModStream 450W which was released in 2005. 35W to 50W lower power consumption is quite a bit less especially for an older PSU. The HD6850 1GB and GTX460 1GB are very similar in performance.

If it were a newer PSU like a VX450W or an HX450W a GTX460 would be fine.

On top of this the cheapest HD6850 1GB costs £15 less than the cheapest GTX460 1GB on OcUK:

The HD6850 1GB also comes with CODMW2 too! :p

Also,BTW I have had more Nvidia cards than ATI ones! :D

Nvidia:
Geforce Go440
Geforce MX440
Geforce Ti4200
6200
6600LE
6600GT
6800LE unlocked to 16 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders(happy days!)
7600GT
7900GS
8500GT
8800GTS 512MB

ATI:
9500 PRO (lasted me around 2 years IIRC)
9600 PRO
X300SE
X1900GT
HD3870 GDDR4
HD4830
HD4670

Liking this card so far. Taking it easy overclocking, but already easily up to 850/1700/2000 and temps don't go over 60C in Kombustor with 8XQAA.

Hoping to clock up to 900ish on the core once I have a fiddle with the voltage, but performance seems great right now.

:)

Nice increase from a 4870 IME, which is about equal to a 260. My 4870 was just beggining to struggle on highest settings at 1680x1050, and I'd a while ago started having to dial down AA/AF. Now at this res everything flies. :)

Not really overclocked it yet but I will bare in mind the figures above for when I start to fettle

I got another GTX460 SOC yesterday, so i tested the max overclock again on stock volts, but not as good results as the first one i got.

GPU 885MHz (15MHz less)
MEM 1050MHz (75MHz less)

It definitely shows the difference in quality of the components, although can't really complain as they are already overclocked to death compared to the reference model and with voltage tweaks i'm sure they'll hit higher :)

That's quite nice, though. In the end, my OC of 860 wasn't stable on stock volts. Got that issue with the card resetting itself to 2D clock speeds and refusing to clock up until a reboot. Seems fine at 850, but I was hoping for higher before I had to start voltage tinkering... :/

I'm not running them overclocked anyway, i was just curious :)

I use the Gigabyte OC Guru, but for some reason my gpu voltage and current don't change in the right side panel, they just stay at 0.00v

Anyone know why ?
