Got my XBOX 360! What a nice system!

Gave up trying to find one at a store so I got mine off ebay. Arrived yesterday with 2 games: Call of Duty 2, Dead or Alive 4. I think the next game on my list is oblivion and/or PGR.

Pluses:
+ The wireless controller makes my wife REALLY happy because there are no cords to tidy up.
+ Looks really good on my 65 inch HDTV at 1080i.
+ Surround sound on COD2 is spot on nice!

Minuses:
- Dvd-rom is somewhat loud
- The component cable has the audio cords attached (i had to buy an RCA extension)

Kudos to MS for making my xbox 360 not have the problems... yet! I have a mfg date of Oct 2005. :eek:
Does anyone know if the system can play NTSC and PAL dvd movies?
 
You shouldn't get surround sound through RCA, its just stereo? :confused: Optical is for surround sound.

Unfortunately the Xbox will only play DVDs in the region you bought it for iirc. So thats Region 2 / PAL here. I hope I'm corrected on this though.

I would highly recommend Oblivion and GRAW as your next purchases. They are both brilliant games you will love forever and ever :)

Make sure you sign up for Xbox Live Gold as a 360 is naked without it.

PGR3 is a great choice, Oblivion is not my type of game but I know loads of people who love it. Dont rule out Burnout: Revenge either.

He's lying. Get Burnout, it's the best game on the console. Oblivion is awesome too. And GRAW. And Tomb Raider. And PGR3.
 
Definitely more votes for GRAW, PGR3 and Tomb Raider here!

Not sure Oblivion is really my sort of game, but might need to get it to find out what all the fuss is about!!
 
Congrats on the purchase. If you like RPG's, then Oblivion is a top game to get. Although it should come with a warning because people have hardly played anything else since it came out including yours truly.
 
PGR3 is a must mate, fantastic game. GRAW and FN3 are also very good and worth a look.

on a side note. put your TV to 720p rather then 1080i I found it looked much nicer.

Ye thats true. Play for more than a few hours and you can't put it down :\

Yes you can get surround though RCA, it'll just be Dolby Pro-Logic and not Dolby Digital.

Pro-logic being only mono one channel rear, DD being full freq on 5 channels plus the sub. There's even a Pro-Logic II which gives you separate rears, not sure if they are full freq though...
 
Thanks for all the replies. The system got locked up when I switched to the guide durng game play but a simple reboot fixed that. I am going to switch my system from 1080i to 720p tonight and see if that helps with the visual quality. Though I have no problems with it at 1080i.
