Well...blown away by the performance, and how games can look and run!

Changed from a x1800xt and its great.

What is the max overclock for a card like this?

depends what 4850 u got.

a standard 4850 should do about 685-700mhz on core / 1050-1100 on memory, 9 out of 10 it'll do 685mhz with stock bios. with a mod it'll do anything between 700-750mhz on core..

my sapphire 4850 can do 750/1150 with my mod bios.

i would say start upping the core first to find the max mhz then up the memory to find the max.

I have a Powercolor 4850 and i've got mine at 675/1050. I never did find out where it starts to artifact but i expect it has some more room left. I am happy with my current clocks anyway and i like to play it safe so i'm going to keep it where it is (yes, boring i know).

The performance boost is probably minimal over a stock clocked 4850 anyway i reckon.

But I don't have a voltmeter, so I'd be doing it blind. I think there's one resistor you can draw on as much as you like with a pencil without it going over 1.4v, so I might try that.

Yeah I pencil modded mine to around 1.28V. Measured using a voltmeter and I think I short circuited somewhere while measuring. Saw sparks and a cloud of smoke. Done that a few times. Still works tho :D
