got sound but know sond card!!!

having a problem with my mobo, see sig

installed the onboard sound drivers 3 times up to yet and still the same problem, its installed and the device manager says there is no problems with it, ya can open it up and press trial(play) and you get sounds coming from each speaker in turn, but ya cant open media player, play games, because sound is not working.

i know its the sound because if i delelte something in task manager for example the mobo beeps as im doing it, ive only got a 2.1 system and id be happy with the windows sound if need be i just dont want to reinstall windows again, as im sick of talking to a foriener and explaining to him that im only using it on 1 computer

tried that before, didnt make a difference, tried downloading the latest dx9 feb ed, as well to see if helped, didnt, doing my head in, think im gonna have to do a complete install again

Maybe just a quick something to look at - have you got a front audio cable that connects to the mobo from the case? Some cases come with a 2 connectors for the front audio. I have seen that it will work with 1 and not the other even though you are attaching the speakers via the audio ports at the back.

Might be worth checking.

fixed the problem

dont really want to say what id done wrong, feel such a noob LOL

when i was removing all the rubbish for start up, i accidently removed windows audio, but becuase i didnt then restart, (i did a few hours later) id forgotton about it

well case solved!!
