Me and my fiancée have been looking for a place and it seems everything is falling into place.

Went to the letting agents yesterday and they are just awaiting on the work reference for the other half and then it's all done without a guarantor :D

It's our first place together, 3 bedroom so we've got a room for expectant baby (of which we find out if its a boy or a girl on Thursday) and a home office for me.

Got a quote from Uswitch for gas an electric who have said £85 for web saver 11 dual fuel would be the best. Think this is ok for gas an electric in Kent?

Endsleigh seem the best for contents insurance at £107.

Just need to sort out water rates now i guess and broadband is sorted with BT now it seems.

Just need a TV license too i guess.

Anything else i'm missing?

Also, the property has a garage which also acts as the gate to the garden but this is used for storage, any ideas on how i can sway them to include this garage as extra as it could be really handy for us.

Thanks,

Andy

I moved into our new rented property on Wednesday :) Congrats.

Couldnt comment on your gas and leccy, if its GCH then limit it to only the rooms your using to keep the costs down.

Your contents insurrance sounds great, cheaper than ours! Just keep an eye out for any expensive excess charges with that.

On the day you move in, take ALL the meter readings, note them down then get your utilities sorted. TV license and council tax you can actually sort out before you move in, the missus done ours a week before we got the keys.

Have you double checked to see if the previous tennents have left the BT line active? I had to get ours re-activated, beware there is a cost for this.

It is GCH so just turn the radiators off in the rooms that we wont be using?

£50 excess which i'm quite happy with :D

Will make sure thats done, and will look at tv licensing etc... now.

There is a BT line but im going with BT and they are doing a free activation deal at the moment.

Go through quidco when you are getting your gas/electric quotes - can get some cash for doing it :)

Will look into that, thanks :D

To the OP. As you live in Kent, have you checked out Vfast for your broadband needs? Might be interesting if you live in an area with otherwise poor speeds. Me and my girlfriend are hopefully soon moving to Wingham in Kent (well, should've moved in last Monday, but things beyond our control have delayed things), and Vfast seems to be the best bet. They provide a wireless connection where you mount an antenna at the roof.

Anyway, good luck with everything!

I'm sitting in Thannington at the moment as i type this as the other halfs place, but we're moving to Ashford.

Never heard of VFast but it seems quite a small operation? BT is slightly cheaper and faster too at 39Mb.

Apparantly there are buildings in the way.

Are these transmitters only house high? What a joke.

BT Infinity it is then.
