Got vs Gotten?

is that correct english?

doesnt fit to me, surely its

This is out of control
this has became out of control.

but then on google I see for headlines
"
Why banking got out of control in the digital age"
where I'd have thought
Why banking is out of control in the digital age
why banking became out of control in the digital age.
or even
why banking has become out of control in the digital age

sounds much better??

this has got out of control sounds really chav uneducated pleb like to me

You are right, I am sure that when we were taught english language at O level, words like got were discouraged. Your first phrase is concise and sounds correct.

The man went to get an apple.
The Man has an apple.
The man received a 10 year prison sentence. the man got a 10 year prison sentence.
The man was escorted to prison, the man was taken to prison, the man got to prison.
the man caught herpes, the man got herpes.

GOT just sounds stupid. surely you only use GOT when you don't know a better series of words to type

Do not pass go, do not got 200 monopoly dollars init bruv

Our school English teacher told us to avoid words like "got" and "said" at all costs :p Esp "got". There are so many better replacements: received, attained, acquired, etc.

"Gotten" is just utter crap no matter how you spin it :p

So replace a perfectly good west germanic word with a Latin derived one instead?

I call cultural elitism!

It's passive.

The man got an apple.

vs

The apple gotten by the man.

It ain't necessarily so. Some people use "got" to refer to something that is possessed in the present and "gotten" to refer to something acquired in the past (which the person might or might not still possess).

"gotten" isn't formal usage even in American English (and isn't used at all in other forms of English), so there aren't clear rules or definitions for its current use.

Jimmy got ten years in the slammer.
Jimmy got what he deserved.
When Jimmy got out he went straight to the pub.
"Have you got change of a twenty pound note?" he said
The barman opened the till and got what Jimmy asked for.
Jimmy got scared and pulled out the gun he had gotten given to him earlier.
Jimmy got the money from the till and the barman got shot.
Jimmy got arrested.
The barman got the all clear and was kept in for observation.

It mostly reads ok but there are many better options. North American Vs British English.

Jimmy received a ten year prison sentence
Jimmy was given exactly what he deserved
When Jimmy finished his sentence and was let out he went straight to the pub.
"Have you got change of a twenty pound note?" he said
The barman opened the till and took out a crisp twenty pound note, just what Jimmy wanted.
Jimmy got scared and pulled out the gun he had been given earlier.
Jimmy emptied the money from the till and shot the barman
Jimmy was arrested at the scene of the crime.
The barman received the all clear and was kept in for observation.
