Sick of trying to make desks work and thinking of making own desk, however need to find some wood. Only thing is as its going into an alcove with dodgy walls so Im guessing need proper wood rather than chipboard type wood so i can sand the sides to make it flush.

Size of wood after;
600 x 1250 mm

It would be supported on 3 sides, fully on the back 1250mm and fully on one side of 600mm and 300mm to the rear of the third side, could i get away without any other supports in theory?

Only an inkjet printer, 17" tft, keyboard etc on it.

I would've thought that would be fine, provided you could get reasonable fixing on the wall.

What's 'dodgy' about the wall?

Christ, I need to do some work.

I did this, just used a kitchen worktop, you can get some about that size from Ikea that are solid wood, or you use to be able to.

As for supports, Mine is about 2 times as long and requires a leg in the middle, so you should be fine without one. Mine is only supported by the rear and left wall to, all I did was get some strong wood, about 1" x 1" and drilled it into the wall, the desk then sits on, and is connected to this and is solid.

Uneven i guess or even unstraight/wonky

cant you just stick a wooden strip on the wall and use that to support one side of the desk?

Thats what going to do however if place a straight object against side wall the middle is about a 5mm further out if that makes sense and will bug me having that gap so was thinking of sanding the top so its snug.
