Ok ok I know the thread title implies I might be a bit of a numpty but what I actually mean is that I have installed the cpu (easy) and installed the new heatsink fan I bought (friggin nightmare). I bought an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro and now have no fingertips left trying to get it to hook over the black lugs :D . As for pushing the lever in place......thought I was going to snap every piece of plastic around the cpu plinth.

So now it is up and running and I am in Vista, I would love to know what are the best utils to have up and running, how to assign tasks to separate cores (ie: running two instances of Eve Online on separate cores) and I have also not been able to find Vista cpu drivers on AMD site.

Feedback and tweaking recommendations gratefully received.

TIA

Well not a great start....just found out that I have fitted the damn Freezer 64 the wrong way around............pants! Guess my fingers are gonna have to hurt some more :o

EDIT:

Hmm well turned the hsf around and found that it wouldn't sit properly over the cpu. The bottom part of the cirular outer ring of the cage was pressing too firmly against the Corsair module in Bank 0 (DIMM A1) slot. Consequently I have had to "mod" the cage of the fan by removing the lower outer ring so that it sits just above the ram module. I could have forced the ram module over to one side slightly but that really didn't feel right. Would you guys think the outer ring is more for show that actually structure to the fan housing? It didn't seem to have lost any strength in removing the short length. Temps don't actually seem any different with it seated the other way around......40° on #0 and 36° on #1.
