Prisoners, it's time to face reality and embrace your fate. Make yourself at home in the Valley of Mines, a place full of danger, crime and greed. You will stay here for a very. Long. Time.

In Gothic 1 Remake, you get thrown into the colony, a massive outdoor prison with no chance for escape. Strays or loners won't make it far here, so get to know the three different camps of the valley and join one of them to survive.

Dive into a living world and experience one of the most immersive atmospheres you'll ever see in a video game. Learn how your choices affect the story and even the entire fate of the colony.
Welcome to the world of Gothic. Welcome to the colony.

Gothic 1 Remake is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and, Xbox Series X|S.

Features:
  • Return to The Colony, in a full blown remake of the popular and revolutionary game Gothic from 2001. Rediscover the world of the mining colony, its secrets and challenges.

  • Faithful full remake of the original Gothic 1.
  • Modernized combat system that takes the basic premises of the original combat system to the modern age.

Coming Soon

Gothic is a brilliant game and the 4 minute trailer makes it seem like its developers well realize why (it also helps that they have Kai Rosenkranz on board).

Plus the new stuff will be written by Enderal writer, which means it will be fantastic.
Day one, assuming technical state is good.

Only played G3, which i thought was really impressive, and i played that around 2018(?)
Even with the balance patch its uneven balance led me to give up. So i'll be keeping an eye on this.

There's a 'playable teaser' on Steam - i tried it and it feels pretty good :). I kept dying though, so its not been made easier, I remember dying a lot in the original!

G1 and G2 were really good.
G1 for introducing the whole concept.
G2 for refining it.
The later ones weren't as good, nor the very similar Risen and Elex.

See how this works out, looks good though.

Will have to try it. Think it was G3 where you always got killed by boar as they kept knocking you giving no chance to run or retaliate. Proper janky.

just FYI that playable teaser is 6 years old, was made by 7 people in 6 months and only served as proof of concept to test if there is interest in the remake. Lot of people downloaded it (so it served its purpose) but every Gothic fan hated it (because it completely misunderstood what Gothic is). Fortunately developers took that feedback and current iteration of the remake looks much more faithful and better.

Never played it but all my Polish friends used to rave about it. Not sure what the connection is.

Gothic was huge in central and eastern europe, much bigger than it was in western or US. In my class, we were all playing it. I remember being on a LAN party and instead of playing counterstrike or UT, we just all played Gothic side by side.
To me, G1 and G2 are and always have been superior to Elder Scrolls games.

I didnt realise the teaser was so old / scrapped - i liked it (maybe due to nostalgia) but if they are making it better / took feedback from the community and are working through that, then even better.
