Gothic 2 or Gothic 3

As title which one is better or are they rubbish games?

Not played either, but Risen is very similar (same people?) and is pretty good.

i loved gothic 2 but by todays standards its a bit too dated to enjoy, i had a quick go on gothic 3 but at the time it didnt run too well so i gave up

risen is a good game tho from what i played of it

Gothic 3 is awesome is you like sandbox world-style RPGs. Just make sure you get the latest community patch which turns it from badly broken mess into a genuinely excellent open game.
