Gothic 3 controls

Just started this game. How on earth do I pick up stuff? Can't see anything in the controls to do this. managed to lose my sword in the 1st fight & cant pick it up again or anything else. Tried every damn key...

Right mouse button? Or left. If you've tried all the keys.
