VIENNA, AUSTRIA (9. März 2012) - Nordic Games GmbH proudly announced that it has concluded a distribution agreement with Piranha Bytes for all existing titles of the Gothic Universe. The following new editions will be available in retail stores on 2 April 2012:
  • Gothic 3 Enhanced Gold Edition: (Gothic 3 and Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods in extensively improved editions, financed by Nordic Games)
  • Gothic Complete Collection: All Gothics (Gothic, Gothic 2, Gothic 2 Night of the Raven, Gothic 3 Enhanced and Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods Enhanced) forged into one incredible edition

'Extensively improved' editions eh? Hmmm.
Well, see what happens, and what changes and improvements are made. My memories of Gothic 3 were it was a good game, marred by glitches and bugs, so if they can fiddle with that, improve it, then potentially they'll have a good game to release.

It's definately had a strange shelf life with the dev/producer changes and combination of official and community patches...it'd be good if they can fix some of the more technical issues modders can't really.

Agree on that, also it seems to be a very unheard franchise in the first place. Also wasn't Risen a pretty much copy of Gothic too?

Without improved graphics I don't think many people will buy these in these times. If they'd made this pack pre- Witcher2 / Skyrim / Amalur then maybe, possibly.

1 & 2 are solid games, if very unforgiven. Struggles somewhat from German to English translation. 3 is apparently good with the community patches. The 4th wasn't made by the same dev's, and doesn't seem to be a comparable to the first few. Worth playing if you can handle the old-tech.

Risen, was the Pirhana Bytes answer to losing the right to make gothic 4. You could say it was a copy, but it is more like spiritual gothic 4. Very good games, take a bit of stick due to the weird voice acting, and difficulty.

3 is the only one I didn't play, played Gothic 1&2 and Risen so it seems I've saved myself accidentally :D

What I do hope that could maybe rise from all of this, is new funding to make new games with maybe better development or QA or whatever it was that they were lacking before when they started churning out the really bad versions.

I couldn't stand 5 minutes playing Gothic 3.

Gothic 1&2 (with the EP) were great, Risen was almost as good.

Arcania wasn't anything like Gothic games so I skipped that one.
