Gov to Trial Running Broadband via Water Mains

Interesting. I guess many homes won't utilise this due to such old pipes being used.

In this house whenever it rains hard our internet goes slow, the hole/bunker whatever it's called gets flooded. Quite impressive since it's on a big hill. Gave up reporting it as whenever it happens the internet gets turned off or something, and then openreach appears days later. Ignore it and the problem sorts itself in a quicker way.

I dunno why they're trialling this, as we've had it firmly in place for many years already. Most of those countries cited as having successfully implemented this only got it because our engineers went out to oversee and advise on the projects.

Sounds like just a PR show, really...

Also a 3 year £4m trial seems rather unambitious. Like most government projects. Take £10bn from the waste of space that is HS2 and spend it on FTTP. Just get it done.
