GP4 or F1 Challenge

You could post in the Wanted section of the Member's Market and see if anyone has a copy of GP4 they want. I have one but I want it just for the record.

Also pop over to GPG, register and perhaps ask on there if anyone knows a site you can buy GP4 from or if anyone has a copy they are willing to sell you.

You'd have thought Steam would be useful for this sort of thing!
 
Hmm it could be. Does it cost to use Steam as a developer? I presume it does. So you advocating the GP4 mod developers using Steam to allow people to get the updates? Just making sure I know what you mean.
 
Ah I thought you might mean that. The only thing that made me ignore that thinking was that GP4 was released in 2002. Although Steam was around then it wasn't the "in way" to deliver a game. Not until 2004 and HL2 was Steam very stable it seemed.

Anyway the company or group of GP4 programmers has disbanded I think. Geoff Crammond isn't working on a GP5 since Sony have the licence for F1 games and will continue to do so for a long time yet, unfortunately.

So your best bet is to pop over to GPG. Its the "home" of GP4 I reckon on the Internet. There is no other site that I know off that is as important to GP4's continuing development and most if not all of the developers post on that site.

Aaargh!

Managed to get CSM from one of your links Marclister, but it's only v1.07. The 2006/2007 mods only work with CSM v 1.26 apparently :(

Would appreciate an email with it :)

I only have 1.25. Been out of the loop for too long. Seems most of the links I know of are dead. Quite a poor show it has to be said. There is meant to be a guy on GPG who manages the files for download on GPG. Not entirely sure that linking to other sites is the idea here. He is a busy guy though, does a lot of programming for GP4 stuff.

Perhaps the site owners shouldn't have chosen him for the download managing. Not having a dig but he's one of the most important guys in the GP4 scene so getting him to manage downloads as well is a bit silly. Probably means if anyone moans about the links being dead he/site owners will say that he is busy with 3DEditor etc etc!

Just speaking to a GPG mod on MSN and he's sent me something I can send you. If you install it, there is an update feature that should get you the latest version. Fancy just checking the CSM you have to see if its one with the update feature? Or have you not got CSM at all yet?

Are you on MSN? It might be quicker/easier to send this to you that way. marclister at gmail dot com. Perhaps you could email me first with your MSN addy so I know to accept you when you add me.

The CSM I did manage to get doesn't have an update feature unfortunately.

well there be up for a few hours only, i have not altered any files, and i am a gp4 fan and of all the people that have made these files, i only upload them because i dont want people to go around saying what a crap mod/game because they cant get the files and not getting this great mod to work, so im doing them a favour in my eyes, i think that covers me ok ;) oh and i want Zaz's hard work not to be missed out by us true fans of his work, same goes for the author of the gpx patch and the others too.

i said a couple of hours to cover me also, they will be up until 8pmish.
