gps cycle computer - GPX ?

i think it doesnt exist. so ive gone on gsm arena and looked for a small phone with gps
ive come across sony xperia mini u. i will install the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mendhak.gpslogger&hl=en_GB

that will do the job. phone is cheap on ebay and a lot better than garmin edge which i was going to buy.

any recommendation for a bike mount, something similar to the quarter turn mount

Yes, I was looking at that too but when I found this I thought it was much better (for me).

Main benefits being it's cheap (case £2, adapter £4, mounting arm £3), and easy to adapt if I decide to use a different phone.

exactly so, plus i can double up the phone as a cheap phone to take abroad when traveling.

i was going to invest in a garmin edge, but when i thought about it a cheap small phone would do the same job if not better.

I just wanted to share my new setup with you all.

So I bought a Sony xperia mini its surprisingly small, flashed it with android 6.0 marshmallow from the guys at https://legacyxperia.github.io/

its runs surprisingly well for what i need it to do which is just log GPS coordinates to GPX file which i upload on strava. I have order the garmin quarter turn mount, which i plan to do the above mod/hack.

The following apps i have installed on it.
  • GPS Logger For logging gps coordinates
  • SpeedMeter For displaying speed,i have the logger in the background and this as my main HUD display
  • Maps Me offline maps for moving around to new routes
  • Satstat handy tool to see how many satellites fixes

using a silicone rubber band, but will post a final pic once i get the new mount sorted on my stem.
