GPS Tracker For Kids?

Also not everyone is an apple user so alternatives would be good to hear.

OP I can't believe what happened.

I hope you're all ok. I dread to think what I'd do if I caught someone doing that. Has the police caught the person?

Yes, he was arrested within an hour of it being called in

airtags announce they are near by to randomers though, tile can be set to anti theft mode

That's pretty ridiculous TBH... So Tile have just given stalkers and domestic abusers a wonderful option to stay hidden :rolleys:

This is what happens when you start giving nonces a slap on the wrist instead of a nice long stretch.

So glad your daughters fine.

Yup. They keep doing it until they're finally successful.

Remember though, don't upset someone online or that's 3 years in prison for you!

You have to submit ID to be able to turn it on so it's not like you could use one anonymously without being tied to it.

I guess technically anyone could just do it and not care about consequences. but it means tile and law enforcement will know whos tile it was.

Sure but you have to physically find the tile or what appears to have to jump through hoops if you suspect you are being tracked by a hidden tile.

Sorry, I don't agree with a consumer level tracking product being allowed to be virtually invisible.

hows that different to using one of the GPS trackers designed for bikes that have the subscription? you could still use it to track a random.

Most people will be spying on their own partners and have access to their phones anyway. so could do it legally forcing them to share gps

I am not familiar with the bike one you are mentioning.

If you mean a proper tracking unit for vehicle security that only the police have access to (Tracker for example) then that is out with what I am referring to.

In case my explanation is not fully clear - any device that can be purchased by a standard consumer and then used to track anyone by a standard consumer should not be allowed to be hidden from standard consumers.

An example that would fit this description would be Airtags - can be bought by standard consumer and then tracked by standard consumer.

An example that would fall outwith this would be things like Tracker for vehicles - can be purchased by standard consumer but only the police and/or tracking company have access to tracking it, the user does not.

Sure and that's wrong but, just because this may happen, should not be sufficient to allow it into consumer operated equipment as a feature.

Again, thanks for all the responses guys. The little one was pretty shook up, but both me and the missus are doing everything we can to acknowledge it but stick to the facts to reassure her, both of my daughters really, while not down playing it. I don't want this to be something that changes the course of her entire life. Be security conscious, sure. Developing an irrational level of fear, absolutely no!

My missus, who already suffers with anxiety, is really struggling. She's keeping it together though. I'm so proud of her, and keep telling her that, for how she handled it. Me, well it's scared the **** out of me, but again I'm having to keep focus on the facts. If I didn't, well I won't say what my response would be along the lines of.

@Fiocca that sounds good, does it do live tracking?

Can I also ask, what other options you looked at?
Yes it does live track. It's a bit finicky but I think that's because the mobile signal is bad in my estate. When she's in a decent spot I can watch her moving on the map.

There isn't many to choose from which is odd if you want what I was wanting specifically - 2 way communication, live tracking, locked down (as I didn't want to give her a phone!). There's the higher models of the imoo one i got, there's another few brands on Amazon but I can't remember exactly. You could get a Samsung LTE smart watch I think, but they're not locked down (and expensive in comparison). Have a Google for kids LTE watch but don't be tempted by the ones advertised for like 30 40 quid as they're not good from my reading.
