Hey guys,

Looking to get suggestions on a semi decent GPS tracker thats easily install-able by someone that doesn't have a great deal of knowledge with electronics especially when it comes to cars,Was wondering if there is any that can be powered off of the 12V battery inside the engine bay so then can be stuck inside the engine bay hidden away?

Was thinking more of a Sim plan one than going contract with a tracking company.

any suggestions welcome.
cheers.

Get telematics insurance they'll track the car for you.

I thought with most telematics insurance you just have a small device you usually plug into the cigarette power port.

I'm assuming the OPs intention is to have a tracker incase the car is stolen. In this case they would just unplug the telematics device.

By no means cheap, I went with Vodafone automotive, their tracker is ~£500 to install (includes 1 year subscription) but it reduced my insurance premium by £500, after this it is £143 per year. The car I have it on already had it fitted so thankfully I didn't have the upfront cost, so in essence I'm £357 up.
