I am considering getting a GPS tracker and wanted some advise. I am currently looking after my dads car and it is a bit exposed sitting on my drive, it wouldn't surprise me if some one turned up with a trailer as it is quite a rare car and not easily replaceable. I did have it blocked in with my porsche but i sold that last night.

I have only had a quick look but have found ones from about £30 on ebay to £150 at halfords. I just want something simple so that i would have a chance of tracking it down if the worst ever did happen.

I would be spending money on stopping them taking it in the first place, rather than finding it after.
What about a lockable post.

A lockable post would likely rip the exhaust off half the cars i own!

Im mostly concerned with some one turning up with a hiab or winch which will overcome most safety precautions. Ive already had a friend of mine say how easily he could pinch it

Get one that uses a recess. Short of completely lifting the car up and over, or ripping the post out. But if there that determined i doubt a GPS is too much for them to remove either.

these guys are one of the best when it comes to tracking vehicles.

tomtom also do a tracker but its a bit more expensive if i recall, especially their membership fees.

most trackers are your standard 3 wire trackers, power, gsm antenna and gps antenna.

usually wired into the ignition feed, but can be placed anywhere with a permanent feed so that it tracks when not being used. ie on the back of a flatbed truck.
