GPT Protective Partition not readable help!

I have a windows 8 pc that will not boot

I took the HDD out to read in another pc

the other PC sees the drive but no partitions

disk manager shows "GPT Protective Partition" with no options to do anything (they are all greyed out)... a mac just says the disk is unreadable

any tricks to sort this?

What OS on other PC used?

is both Win 8.1 64 bit? Also is the other PC which you installed to read HDD is UEFI based PC?

Hmmm the other PC probably used different SATA cable plugged in HDD so that is why it showed GPT Protective Partition. You must use exactly same cable that plugged in HDD in first PC then it will remove GPT Protective Partition and you will able to access GPT Partition.
