hey guys,

I was getting higher temps when my GPU was set to 0 decibel mode.

I have since changed the fan curve in MSI AB, (which is a great program, really is), and wondering if having the baseline fan speed on the GPU at 40% is OK? Temps, it is great otherwise.

It's going to wear out the fans quicker than if they weren't moving, so I'd set them to the lowest speed you can before they turn off. Personally, I only disable zero rpm when the games I play don't switch the fans on early enough and it cooks the vram.

thanks @Tetras .

I have set it to 32% fan speed, at 30% was the cutoff point. I haven't changed the rest of the fan curve as I had it set nicely for gaming temps. So just to tick along at 32% now.

As long as they're 100% smooth at that speed, then I think that's best. Since GPUs clock down so much at idle, I should imagine your temps are fine now with the fans spinning.

yeah, they are perfect (or seem that way). Yeah, the GPU is under idle / light load, high 20's (c) and since I altered my CPU + case fans in the BIOS the other day, I have shaved around 9-10 degrees under load on both, albeit a bit louder, which doesnt bother me as I am either on the PC gaming / Spotify and thats though my speakers or headset, so i cannot hear the slightly louder noise anyways!

Cheers.

At idle, I'm comfortable with the GPU going up to 40-50 or so, it's more the lack of cooling on the VRAM that bothers me, because some games don't put enough load on, or it turns the fans on for a bit and then off and then on.

exactly another thing that annoyed me mate..when under light load, the fans would turn off at the "0 decibel level" and soon as it warmed up they turned on, then off etc..which I assume would be worse for them in the long run anyways, constantly changing from stand still to x speed etc..
