GPU 2 always at 99% load/usage

I have two 7970's in crossfire - and with ULPS on, when on desktop 2nd card would switch off completely (fans would even stop) and in CCC it would show as 0% on everything. Ultra power saving mode...

..but as soon as any GFX tasks started, 2nd card would always sit at 99% usage. Disabled ULPS and it pretty much matches the 1st card for usage now (when actually using crossfire :) ).

Downside is that the 2nd card is sitting on idle and 20% fans when not in use rather than being switched off completely, but small price to pay.. :)

If you are getting 99% on the card even when on desktop it's more likely to be the bitcoin virus. (edit: Having said that I think even starting up GPUz was enough to trigger the 2nd card...)

So to summarise, try disabling ULPS first and see if this sorts your problem out. :)

It's not always a virus or ULPS.

I had the same problem, and started killing applications one at a time until the load returned to expected levels.

In my case it was Microsoft Lync that was the culprit....
