GPU activity when PC idle and screen in standby

Hey

Recently I have noticed my fans ramping up due to an increase in heat when the monitors go into standby mode... When before they were off due to idle activity = no heat.

I checked GPU tweaks monitoring log and it shows a constant 35% GPU useage which stops when I move the mouse and the screens come to life.

Task manage shows no odd programs or services running, checked startup and nothing there, ran a malware and virus scan... Nothing.

Its a newish window install, installed office, steam, Firefox and some other uni work software.

I can't find the issue.... And its bugging me.

Any ideas?

Yea looked on Google, not found anything out that can help. It did this before and a windows reinstall fixed it. I Dont fancy doing that again.

I tried various driver sets, no change.

Is there any software that will monitor programs and create a list of what's running and logs that data?

Hmmmm I have something similar. I have my PC hooked up to a power meter and notice that as soon as my PC turns off the screen when idle or locked, power consumption goes up 25W or so...

This is annoying as obviously it is costing money when the PC really should be using less power.

My PC is as in my signature, running Catalyst 13.1. Any further ideas?

It's rare I get any GPU activity in windows at all even with firefox running.

steady 22c atm :D

When I had a problem, It was afterburner beta causing it.

My power settings are set using the basic Windows "Balanced" profile with the display turning off after 10 minutes.

I don't have Afterburner installed yet and can't see any strange processes in the Task Manager.

I'm running a full scan of MBAM to see if that picks up anything over the regular scan, but don't anticipate it finding anything.

I am just very puzzled!
