Hello guys. I wonder if you can help. I have an intel quad core 2.3mhz CPU with 4GB ram and an AMD 6950 2GB GPU. Prior to Crysis 3 it was handling everything I have thrown at it. I have just done a clean install of Win 8 and plan to keep the board and CPU for another year. Is it worth me adding a more powerful GPU or will the rest of the system bottleneck it? Please note that the motherboard cannot accept further ram. I game mostly at 1900-1200fyi.

Thanks in advance.

Your cpu is already bottlenecking your current graphics card, but an overclock will help.

If you were to overclock it and also purchase another card, then yes, you still would be bottlenecked, and probably by quite a bit. I expect you still would see some gains, but I don't think it would be worth it.

Try overclocking your cpu, and use a program like coretemp to keep an eye on the temps.
