It's that time of the year again...
With a nice bonus, I am seriously tempted towards buying a new GPU for better performance.

System Spec:
Intel i5 2500K @ 4.6GHz
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 gen3
Sapphire Toxic 6970 2GB (Crossfire)
Dell U3014 (2560x1600)
16GB Corsair
Cooler Master CM-690 II
OCZ ZX Series 850W
6 Hard Drives. :D

I am seriously considering the new Nvidia 980ti or AMD 390x.
I presently play GTA5, Tomb Raider 2013, Bio-Shock Infinity, Kerbal Space Program, BeamNG Drive, Dayz, BF4, SWTOR.
If members could kindly answer my questions, and add any thing else relevant, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

1. Could my PSU support SLI or Crossfire, with proposed GPU's?

2. How much faster is a single 980ti or 390X Card, compared to a single 6970?

3. Is Reference cards (Blower heat-sink) recommended over Custom cards, that evacuate the heat into my Air-cooled case?

4. What 980ti or 390x is recommended for value for money?

The 390X is not a new card. It's a 290X with a different badge on it, higher clocks on the core and memory and thus consumes quite a lot of power compared to the 980Ti/Fury X but performs a lot worse.

Fury X is AMDs new card which has much improved performance per watt than the 290X/390X.

A Fury X or 980Ti would offer a monumental upgrade from dual 6970s. I would be surprised if you needed dual cards. I would get one first and take in the performance increase.

1. I would think dual Fury X or 980Ti SLI would be ok with 850w even though personally I would be happier with 1000w.

2. 980Ti will be about 4 times faster than a single 6970 and this is why I think you would be more than happy with a single card to start with.

3. Reference cards a pretty good for SLI. If staying with one card I would prefer non reference due to the lower GPU temps and higher factory OCs. I mean, if you have two non reference 6970s, one non reference 980Ti shouldn't be a problem.

4. I like the look of the deal OcUK had on the EVGA ACX 980Ti for £540 but it's gone up now. My MSI Gaming is brilliant but I got it at £576 before they put the price up. I think the Palit Super Jetstream looks like what I would put my money on if keeping costs down at £549.99. The Super Jetsream was very quiet on the GTX 980.
