Hey guys.

Been outta the loop for a couple of years as my kiddies have been born ( funds were tight ) and my setup seemed to be getting me by.

But ive got the itch and urge to upgrade again so im after thoughts and opinions on an upgrade path.

Just looking into the gpu area for now so my 3770k will be the engine so to speak.

So im looking to maybe swap out my 7970's but for what card?

I game on 1080p, I had the 2 cards for a little mining experiment that I soon backheeled so just went xfire.

What single card out there now would give the same if not better performance?
Nvidia or AMD im not fussed.

Cheers

980ti or FuryX (X2 coming later this year)

Lots of posts on the two above. If you are thinking of going SLI over time, remember some of the 980ti are 3 slot cards and might not fit, depending on your mobo spacing.

So one 980ti would be better than my current xfire setup?
By what sort of margin?

A single card solution would be great if that was the case?

Im gonna go and see if I can get hold of some benchmarks

No single card will be better than your current set up - that's why I'm having to grab a pair of Fury X (if any stock ever emerges).
However, a single Ti or Fury is more than adequate for 1080, simply xfire/sli if/when you go 4k :P

Your current setup is a bit faster than a standard 980. @ 1080P it's not worth going to a 980Ti for the cost involved. for £530 - £160 (sale of old cards) = £370, you would get about 15-25% performance I think which is simply not worth it.

A 7970 crossfire setup is fine for any game out now so wait for the die shrink if I were you.

2x390's will be a fair bit faster though at the same price range as a 980Ti..

Cheers guys.

Thanks for the advice, I will keep hold of my pounds for now then.

Nice to know tech you spent a lot on a few year back is still decent

Surely one Ti is faster than a pair of 7970s ?

Err, a 980Ti is roughly two times the performance of a 970? And I think a 970/390 would do pretty good against CF 7970...

Though I have to say that the OP's setup is still very adequate to play games with decent settings. Wouldn't bother swapping at this point in time.
